Samurai Armour No 3 - Momoyama period

Gusoku-type armour with two-part cuirass, braided with navy blue thread.

Helmet: Tetsu kuro urushi nuri 16-ken Akoda nari kabuto with hanpo and kachimushi maedate (wood) - Momoyama* Period
A practical iron helmet of Akoda (nari) shape, composed of 16 plates (ken) and coated in traditional black lacquer (kuro urushi). Its full and rounded form reflects the characteristic style of the Momoyama period.
Built in the Hineno style, the helmet features a five-tiered shikoro kozane style neck guard, laced with navy blue silk thread in a keito odoshi pattern (hair-pull style). The inner surface of the shikoro is lacquered in vivid vermillion red, matching the finish of the menpō

Mask: Expressive menpō (Samurai face mask) – vermilion red-lacquered iron with horsehair moustache
Resei-style menpo made of iron and finished with urushi lacquer in vermilion (she-iro) tone. The upper lips is fitted with a moustache of natural horsehair, complemented by a small beard below the mouth opening. The mask is attached to
a four-lame kozane style yodare-kake (throat guard) lacquered in black and gold laced with dark blue odoshi.

Maedate - (kaschimushi / dragonfly - handmaid wooden replica revived from the Sengoku period)

* Azuchi–Momoyama period is named after Oda Nobunaga's Azuchi Castle and Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Momoyama Castle The Azuchi–Momoyama period ended with the Tokugawa victory at the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 – unofficially establishing the Tokugawa Shogunate and beginning the Edo period.
